"The Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him" (Hab. 2:20). To me, this is one of the most compelling passages in the Bible. Many times it has enabled me to silence discordant conditions of matter through understanding the power of God.

Having been raised in Christian Science, I have experienced many blessings, but I wish to share one remarkable healing of a complication of diseases. I had lost weight so alarmingly that I was finally unable to work, and my employer insisted that I have a physical examination due to the health insurance he carried for the employees. The doctor's verdict was that I had collapsed kidneys, a fibroid tumor, cancer, lukemia, tuberculosis of the lungs, a weak heart, and a nervous condition because of change of life.

Step by step each ailment was overcome through the help of faithful practitioners who worked for me at different times. Never once did I doubt that Christian Science was equal to every demand made upon it. I held to the fact that God is All and that there is no other power. Statements from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, such as "the scientific statement of being" (p. 468) and the definition of man (pp. 475–477), were held to and pondered, as were also the beloved ninety-first and twenty-third Psalms.
