It is my joyful privilege to bear...

It is my joyful privilege to bear witness to God's goodness. As a child I wanted to know what God is, why we are here, and what is required of us. When thirteen years old I was told to read the New Testament. I read it twice and loved the accounts of what Jesus did and taught. Also I found valuable advice on thinking, acting, and truly loving.

At the sudden passing of my father, however, I found no comfort in my religion nor in other teachings which I investigated. Later I became acquainted with a woman who owned a little shop. When I asked her what she could tell me of life hereafter, she said that if I would study and use Christian Science, no one would need to tell me about it, for I would know the answer to my questions. Since that time, over twenty years ago, I have used Christian Science to solve my problems, and there has been no lack of any needed thing.

I am grateful for many healings. When I have had slow healings, I have usually found that there were traits of disposition that needed correction. While quite new in Christian Science, I became very ill. I called a practitioner, who worked prayerfully for me. However, the suffering continued for some time. Finally I prayed for more wisdom, and then I recalled that a friend had experienced a very quick healing as soon as she resolved to forgive one whom she had hated.
