While in a public library investigating the teachings of various religions, I found copies of Christian Science periodicals. Later I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which the periodicals mentioned. My motive in reading the textbook was to find the truth. I had no thought of receiving physical benefit.

One night, while reading, I gained a sudden realization of God's allness and of man's wholly spiritual nature. At that moment I knew that I had found Truth and had glimpsed reality. At the same time I was instantaneously healed of a severe form of constipation, from which I had suffered for over thirteen years.

Previous to my reading of the textbook I had been skeptical about parts of the Bible, and I was afraid that I was drifting into infidelity. Great gratitude to Mrs. Eddy flooded my thought when I realized not only that she had brought to this age the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus, but that in organizing The Mother Church she had provided means for meeting the needs of those searching for Truth. The activities of The Mother Church, including the privilege of class instruction and yearly association meetings, have met my spiritual needs.
