"There is no power apart from God

"There is no power apart from God. Omnipotence has all-power, and to acknowledge any other power is to dishonor God." This statement on page 228 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy has helped me in meeting many kinds of situations.

I should like to express my sincere gratitude for the following healing, for I feel sure it will encourage others who are experiencing problems of long standing. Over forty years ago I had an operation on my neck, and a small growth remained. In later years the growth became larger and more conspicuous. My work called for visiting in homes, and the children who were there would call attention to this growth; in fact, they would frequently stare at it. For months I said to myself, "I' ll have to do something about this." Finally, I detected an offensive odor, and I knew that the condition must be corrected without further delay.

I visited a Christian Science practitioner, told her about the problem, and asked her to take up work for me. Right then she started helping me to change my entire thought, and she expressed so much love that I gained great joy from the visit. I had help for ten days and talked with the practitioner over the telephone a few times, but not every day. I can never express in words the gratitude I felt when the growth dissolved into nothingness. This experience taught me much of God and of Christian Science. It showed me that problems are but steppingstones to a better understanding of Truth.
