One of my first healings in Christian Science...

One of my first healings in Christian Science was freedom from asthma. Each fall for several years this trouble had been very bad. It made my breathing difficult and brought with it a cough which lasted for months. The greatest help came from my holding to the verse in Job (33:4), "The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life." The asthma was completely cured.

The healing of a goiter, which I had had for twenty years, was the most outstanding one I ever had. This goiter was large enough to be quite noticeable. After studying Christian Science for some time I realized this condition should be mastered. I asked a practitioner for help and was told not to watch the goiter, but to realize that there is no abnormal growth in Mind and that Mind is All-in-all. About three months later as I was cleaning a mirror I realized that something was different about my appearance. The goiter was gone. I never knew when it went, for there had not been any unusual feeling to indicate a change.

The hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal have been very helpful to me, particularly Mrs. Eddy's poems which have been set to music. At one time when one of our daughters, with her little girls, was visiting us in the South, we took them to their train for home. It was Sunday, and just after the train left I heard church chimes playing a melody which was very familiar. I realized that the words which had been set to it for our Christian Science Hymnal were those of Mrs. Eddy's poem, "The Mother's Evening Prayer" (Poems, p. 4), and I recalled the line referring to Love's all-encircling arm.
