This testimony is an acknowledgment...

This testimony is an acknowledgment of some of the many healings I have received through Christian Science.

Many years ago I had an instantaneous healing of severe pain in the ear, accompanied by fever. A practitioner was called, but the pain still persisted. Then the thought came to me that I ought to try to help myself. I picked up a Sentinel which was by my bed and began to read an article which pointed out that the healing power of divine Principle is immediate; it is here and now. As I pondered this thought I was healed. My consciousness was illumined with the radiant light of Truth, and the peace and joy I felt remain in my memory to this day. All pain and fever left me, and I was free.

I have also been healed of nervous trouble. More recently I had a beautiful healing of a condition which made it impossible for me to walk for five months. I spent some time at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where I had the most loving care and where the healing took place.

Some years ago a cyst appeared on my eyelid. A friend who is not a Christian Scientist remarked: "That cyst on your eyelid is growing larger. What are you going to do about it?" Until then I had given no thought to it since it in no way troubled me, but the remark of my friend aroused me to see that I ought to do something—and the something must be to know the truth. Instantly the thought came to me, "There is no blemish on God's child." And the lines from Hymn No. 383 in the Christian Science Hymnal also came to me:

Preserve the tablet of thy thoughts
From every blemish free.

In a day or two my consciousness was suddenly filled with a great sense of joy. Instinctively I knew that the cyst had disappeared. It was such a sacred experience that I could not go to the mirror to verify the healing, and it was not until the following day as I was dressing that I saw that the cyst had gone. Mrs. Eddy says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 105), "Christian Science is an everlasting victor, and vanquishment is unknown to the omnipresent Truth."

Our gratitude to Mrs. Eddy cannot be measured in words. Only by living the truth which she revealed can our lives and the lives of others be enriched. "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord" (Isa. 43:10). My gratitude goes out also to the practitioners whose help has always been so lovingly given in times of need.

I am very grateful for class instruction, and I thank God for His great love in revealing Himself to us through Christ Jesus, our Wayshower, and our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—(Miss) Jean Paterson, Boston, Massachusetts.
