Since knowing of the healing power of Christian Science, I have seen and experienced the joy of liberation from many types of disease, physical, moral, and mental. There has been no desire to use medicine, because the truth revealed in the Science of Christianity has replaced fear with confidence and joy. My husband, who was at first opposed to Christian Science, turned to it when materia medica could not cure an enlarged prostate gland from which he suffered. He was healed and became an earnest student of Science.

Before I knew of the healing power of Truth an eminent eye specialist had told me that I must wear glasses all day and every day. I have not used or needed them for the past twenty-five years, and I enjoy better sight than at any time in my life. The healing has been gradual, unfolding with my sincere desire to discern and understand the truth of God and of man as His image and likeness.

Many healings have been worked out through the giving of thanks for the ever-presence of Love. I should like to relate an experience which might have proved distressing if fear had gained control. One night whilst visiting a foreign country, I awakened at midnight feeling very ill and with an agonizing pain in my head. Any movement I made only increased the pain. I felt completely helpless.

Suggestions came to me that I was going to be paralyzed or that perhaps presently I might even pass on. An angel thought whispered: "You can still think, thank God." I had read the Bible Lesson for Thanksgiving Day, given in the Christian Science Quarterly, and now such helpful passages as these came to my thought (Ps. 95:2): "Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms," and (Col. 3:15), "Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."

Throughout this experience I had no sense of fear; I had only the consciousness of peace. Before long I found that all pain had disappeared. I arose, switched on the light and read for an hour or two, and then again fell asleep. In the morning I awakened fresh and free to enjoy a day touring in the country.

One of the greatest blessings of my experience has been class instruction, which has brought joy, enlightenment, and a better understanding of God; and the treasures of the Bible have been revealed as well. Words are inadequate to express all the gratitude I feel for the selfless devotion of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Through her loyalty to God, her revelation of the Christ, and her steadfastness of purpose in establishing the activities of the Christian Science movement she has done much for humanity.—(Mrs.) Martha R.
