The Ponchatoula Enterprise

Hammond, Louisiana (Society).

Christian Science Society, Hammond, Louisiana, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, will hold two dedication services in its new church home, 207 South Chestnut Street, on Sunday, April 1st. . . . At each service a brief history of the church will be read.

As early as 1920 small groups of earnest students of Christian Science were meeting in homes in Hammond and Ponchatoula (five miles distant) to read the Bible Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Due to increased interest the Hammond group held its services in the City Hall and the Ponchatoula group held services in the Masonic Hall in that city.
