LETTING GOD GOVERN

Are we letting God's purpose unfold for us? Are we resting day by day in the assurance that our Father knows His children's needs and is ready at all times to supply them? Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, acknowledges the omniscience of God when she writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 7): "God is not influenced by man. The 'divine ear' is not an auditory nerve. It is the all-hearing and all-knowing Mind, to whom each need of man is always known and by whom it will be supplied."

The prophet Isaiah trusted God's guidance. His inspired message is for our benefit today, as it was for the people of his generation (58: 11), "The Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not."

Should we find that human will or merely wishful thinking is attempting to pattern our path, we can at once find release from the results of such irresponsible thinking. It is only the mortal sense claiming to govern man that fears and outlines falsely. This mortal sense would attempt to supersede God's guidance. The real man, made in the image and likeness of God, is at one with his Maker and reflects the intelligence, power, and love of his Father-Mother God. The understanding of this fact thwarts the attempts of mortal belief to obstruct God's guidance for us.
