It has been my custom for many...

It has been my custom for many years to read the Christian Science periodicals on the train to and from my work each day. Much good has come of this, and I have been helped and strengthened by the articles and testimonies. I often wondered why people waited so long to put their gratitude in writing to be shared by others. It now dawns on me that I have been receiving the blessings of Christian Science for over twenty years and have not written a testimony. I could fill many pages with accounts of the blessings and proofs of God's care experienced by me and mine.

Christian Scientists are sometimes asked, "What would you do if you had an accident that called for immediate attention?" It is far more helpful and conclusive to tell what one actually did; and I wish to relate such an experience.

One afternoon we were awaiting the arrival of guests. As it was a very cold day I remarked to my wife that it would be nice to have the fireplace roaring; so I went out and split some wood. After splitting several logs I swung with all my strength on a large piece of oak. The next thing I knew I felt a blow on my head, and everything turned black. Instinctively I declared, "God is Love," and although blood was gushing from the wound, I felt no pain and had no fear. The ax had caught in a clothesline and had swung back and hit me on the head.
