BECAUSE HE LOVED HIM

Because he loved him,
The Master bade the rich young man
Sell all he had.
Sorrowful, sad, this ruler turned away
From Soul's security to gold
Of lesser sort—earth weighted, transient, cold.
He would have learned, if he had followed then,
The joy of sharing with his fellow men
All heaven's treasures—Spirit's gifts,
Sincerity and peace and power.
True health and love would then have filled his hour
With pure, eternal good.
To follow well we must leave chaff for wheat.
Because God loves us, He would have us walk
With Him. unite with Truth
And win a royal crown, a living diadem.
