ESTABLISHING THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

When Christ Jesus declared to the Pharisees (Luke 17: 20,21), "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you," he established the glorious fact that the kingdom of God is within reach of each individual, here and now. The Master broke for all generations the claim of false theology that God's kingdom is a faraway place to be reached only by a fearsome experience called death.

The kingdom of heaven is the true state of existence, and it is not reached through material attainment. Neither is it a future reward for goodness expressed on this present plane of living. The kingdom of heaven is a mental state, where good reigns supreme, where health, prosperity, and beauty are seen as right ideas, and where activity consists of the unfolding of all right ideas. It Is the bliss engendered of selflessness, the happiness generated by love for one's fellow men, the bringing forth of spiritual harmony and peace, wherein lies the present solution to every problem—in fact, it is the state of consciousness where there are no problems.

Through birth, education, and environment mankind have been mesmerized into believing that they live in a mortal creation, a creation governed by material laws and subject to lack, frustration, sin, disease, and death. This belief in a mortal creation, our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, names animal magnetism. It is a misconception of true creation. It is a dream, devoid of substance, life, and intelligence.
