Activities for the Armed Services

[The following accounts of service personnel have been received by the Armed Services Department and are now shared with the Field]

A woman wrote a Christian Science Minister for the Armed Services and asked him to visit one of her relatives who was in a Veterans' Administration Hospital suffering from a condition diagnosed by the doctors as tuberculosis. During his first interview with the veteran, the Minister recognized the latter's sincere interest in Christian Science and his humble desire to depend upon it completely for his healing. In consequence the Minister began giving the man Christian Science treatment.

The patient was receptive to the truth and was faithful in reading authorized Christian Science literature and the weekly Lesson-Sermon, found in the Christian Science Quarterly. The first few months that the patient was under Christian Science treatment the doctors would not permit him to leave the ward where he had been segregated. Eventually, however, as his condition improved, they granted him permission to attend the Christian Science services, which were being held regularly in the hospital.
