Signs of the Times

From a sermonette by Rev. C. E. Hershey Marion star, Ohio

The Bible has made a greater impact on history than all other books combined. It has overthrown empires; it has civilized continents. ... It has laid the foundation for the laws of nations, and wherever it has gone it has enlightened and brought progress. It has replaced cruelty and barbarism with mercy and justice. The Bible is incomparable in its moral and ethical teachings. The effect of it in the lives of men is true of no other book. ... Where it is loved, there is joy. It satisfies the deepest yearnings and brings peace to the living and hope to the dying. It solves our most difficult problems. ... Millions testify to the fact that it brings happiness and blessing.
