Christian Science is the pure religion...

Christian Science is the pure religion taught and practiced by Christ Jesus. Its truths cannot be denied, for they heal all our diseases and overcome grief, disappointment, and fear, showing us how to lean on God in sickness as in health. Whenever I have turned to God, my needs have always been met.

Through my application of Christian Science and through the help of practitioners I have been healed on several occasions of the effects of accidents. At one time I was washing some clothes when all of a sudden the wringer came unfastened and swung around sharply, hitting me in the face and breaking my cheekbone. The broken bone set itself and grew together nicely. Later in my experience I suffered a broken shoulder and arm. Although the pain and suffering were soon overcome, it was about three weeks before I could go back to work at my office. The healing came through faithful study and application of Christian Science. The bones went into place and were set without the fingers of a surgeon.

Other healings in our family include those of inveterate smoking and social drinking. Both of these habits yielded to Christian Science treatment. My children and I have been healed of various inharmonious conditions while singing Mrs. Eddy's hymns. The one entitled "Christmas Morn" (Poems, p. 29), has been especially helpful.
