Arkadelphia, Arkansas (Society).

October 24, 1954, was indeed a glorious day for Arkadelphia Christian Scientists, as they were joined by many friends from other towns and locally for the dedication of their very lovely church edifice at Thirteenth and Pine Streets. In order to accommodate the attendance, two services were held, one at eleven o'clock in the morning and one at four o'clock in the afternoon.

Much joy was evident, as this was perhaps the most significant event in the history of this society since a small group started meeting in the homes as far back as 1912. For about sixteen years services were held in the Masonic Hall, and it was during this time, December, 1936, that sixteen charter members became an organized branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The first services were held in the new building on Sunday, May 11, 1952. ...

Members here are very grateful for the loving assistance from the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy and from the Selina C. Cornish Fund, which helped greatly in making possible this dedication.
