CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Christ Jesus warned his followers (John 12:35, 36): "Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you. ... While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light."

Many who have become students of Christian Science have felt the illuminating presence of Spirit, and they have marveled at this new experience. They have touched upon a new substance, and fresh vistas of being never before imagined have unfolded to them in the light of spiritual understanding. Life has suddenly taken on higher meaning: to reflect the one Light, God, is man's eternal function. And thereafter they understand man to be the child of light, the image of Spirit, who is never deprived of the power and joy of Life and Love.

How to retain the spiritual light which the first baptisms of Spirit often bring through Christian Science is the problem confronting the student. Mary Baker Eddy says in her book "Miscellaneous Writings"(pp. 154, 155): "Let your light reflect Light. Have no ambition, affection, nor aim apart from holiness. Forget not for a moment, that God is All-in-all—therefore, that in reality there is but one cause and effect." This unforgettable dictum points the way to constant spiritual illumination.
