INSTANTANEOUS HEALING

The Science of Christianity, discovered by Mary Baker Eddy, gives to those who accept its truths peace, health, and an assurance of eternal life. In the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy explains the glorious truth of the first chapter of Genesis: that God made all perfect, in His image and likeness. This likeness is the spiritual universe and spiritual man, who is without birth or death, dwelling forever in God.

It is the understanding of man's existence as a spiritual idea, as the image of God, inseparable from Him, that gives mankind a basis on which to work. Instead of considering man as mortal, subject to all earth's beliefs and working up to perfection and immortality, Christian Science teaches that all that God made is perfect here and now. In proportion to our spiritual understanding of this fact harmony is brought into our daily experience.

This is the work of Christian Science: to heal the sick and regenerate the sinner, to lift the veil from matter and its false beliefs, to reveal the radiant light and freedom of Spirit, Spirit which Jesus lived to expound. Instantaneous cure resulted from his work in practically every situation. He told the man with the withered hand to stretch it forth. The man did so, and his hand was restored. He bade the one suffering from palsy take up his couch, and immediately he did as he was bidden. And when Jesus commanded Jairus' daughter to arise, she was restored alive and well. In these instances there was no convalescence, no preparing the thought with words of truth and explanations of God. Jesus knew instinctively man's right to health and happiness, knew that God in His great love is forever supplying man with all good.
