Christian Science found me in...
Christian Science found me in a state of doubt and despair. Our daughter had been in the hospital for eighteen months, suffering from a disease of the heart which had been pronounced incurable. The doctors said that she would live not more than nine months longer. The hospital had the child's picture printed in the newspaper and requested donations of her type of blood. A relative who was a Christian Scientist saw the picture and she immediately came to see me and told me of Christian Science.
I was receptive to the truth, and I called on a practitioner for help. Our daughter was released from the hospital upon our assuming full responsibility for the act, and no further medical care was given. The child was completely healed in a short time.
After this I became very interested in the study of Christian Science. My healings have usually been instantaneous. However, an exception occurred once when I was mistakenly watching matter for healing, instead of holding thought to Spirit. I prayed to God for understanding, and that very night I was awakened by the still small voice of Truth saying these words from "the scientific statement of being" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 468): "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter." Then I realized that there was nothing in matter to watch, and the healing soon came.
