Since early childhood my life has been enriched and protected through the ministrations of Christian Science. The first time my parents entrusted the healing of disease to Christian Science I was quickly freed from what was pronounced by a reputable physician as a virulent case of scarlet fever. Three days after treatment was begun I was out playing in the yard, and the healing was complete. After this experience measles, mumps, colds, and influenza were healed. Christian Science was our only physician.

After our son was born, I began to realize how much protection I had received all of my school days through the prayerful work of my mother, the teaching of the Christian Science Sunday School, and the ready response of the practitioners who at various times had given us aid along the way. These wonderful sources of help have also been available to our son since babyhood, and he has been healed many times through these means.

The most outstanding healing in my own experience was of a heart condition. This healing took place about four years ago during a period of consecrated study. The palpitations of my heart had been bothering me for about two years, but I had made the mistake of practically ignoring them. One morning there occurred such an unusual disturbance that the need for specific work was brought forcibly to my attention. I immediately called a practitioner, and he said, "I believe that we should say to this error, 'Get thee hence, Satan!'" He also requested that I study the sentence on page 496 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy which reads, "Hold perpetually this thought,—that it is the spiritual idea, the Holy Ghost and Christ, which enables you to demonstrate, with scientific certainty, the rule of healing, based upon its divine Principle, Love, underlying, overlying, and encompassing all true being."
