OUR TRUE IDENTITY

THROUGH the study of Christian Science we learn that man's true identity is, and always will be, completely spiritual. The understanding that man dwells forever in the realm of Mind, God, as Mind's infinite idea, contradicts the false belief that man is material.

Those who are uninstructed in Christian Science commonly believe that man is material and that it is natural for him to experience both good and evil. They believe that the mortal is the real identity, and they therefore seek in vain for lasting harmony and tranquillity. They accept the necessity for sin, sickness, and death. Christian Science refutes these false theories. Through the authority of the Bible it teaches that man is spiritual, and that he lives, moves, and has his being in God, Spirit.

As we become aware that man's identity is spiritual, we perceive that man is the expression of Mind, imaging forth God's nature and attributes. Many people are proving, in gradually increasing measure, that the understanding of their true identity brings into their daily experience wisdom, vision, love, endurance, abundance, and progress. Through the acceptance of the oneness of God and man, as Mind and its likeness, the Christian Scientist proves that whatever God includes, man must reflect. He understands the truth of the statement Jesus made (John 10:30), "I and my Father are one."
