I should like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to God for the healing efficacy of Christian Science, the revelation of which came to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. The fact that I am alive today and able to write this testimony confirms Mrs. Eddy's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need."

As my brother and I were leaving for a military camp in World War I, a loving aunt who had been a Christian Science practitioner for many years came to see us off. She related several cases of protection experienced by Christian Science soldiers in combat areas. Knowing nothing about Science, however, we decided that it might be all right for people who only imagined they had something physically wrong with them, but that it would be of no benefit to us.

As a result of overseas service, in which I was gassed, I was told a few years later that I had tuberculosis in both lungs, and I was immediately hospitalized. The following three years were spent under the care of doctors, and the only noticeable result at the end of that time was that now my condition was referred to as chronic. Very much discouraged, I decided to try Christian Science as a last resort.
