The speaker made the following introductory remarks:

If we view religion only as formal worship or as a code of conduct, it may seem strange to talk about how it can help us with a problem such as excess weight. But if we find in religion an explanation of God's power to remove all burdens and heal all discord, then we must take a different view. And this is illustrated by our program today.
