"As for me, I will behold thy...

"As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness" (Ps. 17:15). This verse was heavily underscored in my Bible as my goal when Christian Science found me twenty-four years ago in a little western town where Science was almost unknown. The great light which this religion brought me has guided me triumphantly through the intervening years with their manifold trials and besetments. Now I am seeing more clearly the nothingness of the material dream, which mystifies and misleads mankind.

The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was all I had to instruct me, but I immediately recognized it as the truth which would enable us to do such works as Christ Jesus did. The proofs of this came quickly and abundantly. I was quickly healed of a condition which I believe would have been diagnosed as ptomaine poisoning. After about two weeks' study of the textbook, through my own work I had a healing of a severe scald. The intense pain subsided completely in the space of a few minutes, and the blister disappeared in two days. This healing gave me great confidence in Christ Jesus' promise (Matt. 28:20), "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."

When a widespread outbreak of influenza occurred and I experienced unmistakable symptoms, I confidently declared man's exemption from disease, and in twenty minutes the healing was complete. My sight, which eye specialists had declared was 90 per cent gone, was restored, and the glasses I had used for forty years were discarded. Semi-invalidism was also healed. Although many trials have been experienced, there has never been one moment's temptation to resort to any material remedy. "Naught is the squire, when the king is nigh."
