"O give thanks unto the Lord;...

"O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good" (Ps. 118:1). At a time when I felt much in need of comfort and assurance a neighbor casually, remarked to me that she was going to look into Christian Science. I asked a few questions and learned of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The thought came that I should read this textbook and see what would happen; so I went to the public library and borrowed it.

I read this precious book every possible moment. As I did so I became calm, and I was so impressed and inspired by its contents that I had the loan of the book renewed. The first sentence in the Preface was particularly helpful (p vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." Soon I began to realize that joy had come to me and that I was undisturbed. My mental outlook was completely changed. Needless to say, I shortly purchased a copy.

I learned that God is ever present, All-in-all, and that there is no other power that can control us. Sometime later I realized that I was free from several difficulties which I had taken for granted. One of them was neuralgia, which came upon me every winter. When I remarked about this to a student of Christian Science, she said: "That is the way Christian Science works. When one gains a glimpse of the Christ, it brings healing."
