It is a good thing to give thanks...

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High" (Ps. 92:1). Like the Psalmist, I give thanks to God for the boundless blessings which His love has bestowed on me.

Several years ago I became so seriously ill that I had to stop work. In compliance with a ruling of the firm in which I worked, I was obliged to call a doctor, who made the following diagnosis: pernicious anemia and paralysis of the spine, which affected the kidneys. After several consultations the doctor decided to send me to the hospital for observation. As I felt completely discouraged, I asked for an interview with a Christian Science practitioner, and through her prayerful work I was comforted and lovingly sustained.

On the appointed day I went to the hospital, though I was resolved not to stay there. The doctor endeavored to persuade me to submit to his treatment, but I persistently refused. I returned home feeling freer mentally and more conscious of God's presence.
