"O come, let us sing unto the...

"O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation" (Ps. 95:1). With joyous gratitude and singing in my heart I offer this testimony of the power of songs of praise in healing.

A painful injury to my foot resulted from my slipping on a freshly polished floor. That evening I was to play a small portable organ at an informal meeting with some other Christian Scientists, and I did so with considerable pain. We practiced the singing of hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal, and we continued singing until quite late.

When I retired for the night, a sense of peacefulness came into my consciousness. At the same time I felt an adjustment take place in my foot. I soon fell asleep, and I slept the rest of the night. Upon awakening the next morning, I found I was free from any sense whatsoever of discord, and that day I walked a distance of a quarter of a mile to the post office. Although the discoloration and swelling indicated that a bone might have been broken, the foot soon regained its normal appearance. This healing proved that harmony comes from songs of praise and gratitude to God.
