As students of Christian Science...

As students of Christian Science we learn that good can never be reversed. I should like to tell of a business transaction which proves the truth of this statement.

The sale of a parcel of real estate had been negotiated by me to the complete satisfaction of both the seller and purchaser. A substantial check to cover the down payment was left in my charge, and the purchaser departed for his home, several hundred miles distant, to await the arrival of the formal contract of sale. The following day I received a long-distance telephone message from the purchaser, stating that on the way home he had had a complete change of mind and had decided that he would not go through with the purchase. In order to assure himself that he would not be obliged to forfeit the money already paid, he had stopped at his bank and given instructions to stop payment on the check.

He was so adamant in his decision that no opening presented itself for renegotiation of the sale or even for a discussion as to his reasoning. His message was immediately passed along to the seller of the property who was an alert Christian Scientist. His only comment in reply was, "There's nothing good about that news; so let us not accept it as final." He and I decided to request help from a practitioner, and prayerful work was taken up at once along the line that God permits no reversal of good.
