Reading the testimonies in the...

Reading the testimonies in the chapter on Fruitage in our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, has finally brought me to act on the urge to express gratitude for our healing religion. Over twenty years ago I started the study of Christian Science in order to gain harmonious human relationships. This problem was solved, and I later turned to a practitioner for guidance in a contemplated change in employment involving a move across the continent.

With the aid of study and prayer in Christian Science, I found businessmen in New York City who were able and willing to help me in my search for a place to do some good. One of these men said that he had seen me in a Christian Science Reading Room. A temporary job, involving a month's stay in Boston, Massachusetts, made me very grateful. Then about Thanksgiving time three blessings came: our baby was born harmoniously, needed money came from the sale of some property, and a permanent position became available.

The preceding months had been not merely a period of unemployment, but they had given me an opportunity to study and assimilate the inspiring writings of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. The permanent position has proved to be a place where I can do good, especially when I apply the teachings of Christian Science. My wife and I have been grateful many times for the help of a practitioner, and we have been enriched by class instruction. Ushering, committee work, and service on the board of trustees of a branch church have aided in my growth. Our daughter, now in college, has attended the Christian Science Sunday School from infancy, and except for a few days, she has expressed good health.
