Activities for the Armed Services

Japan

A Christian Science Representative in the Armed Services wrote as follows: "I would like to express my gratitude for this healing which occurred after working for Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services. When I returned from distributing Christian Science literature on a very wet day during the rainy season in Japan, I was thoroughly soaked. I had been visiting Navy ships that were in port.

"Noting that I seemed to lie manifesting the symptoms of a cold, I quickly turned my thought to this passage in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 385): 'It is proverbial that Florence Nightingale and other philanthropists engaged in humane labors have been able to undergo without sinking fatigues and exposures which ordinary people could not endure.' I realized that every activity of our movement was an expression of Love and therefore would not manifest itself in an erroneous condition. Also, I held to the statement from our textbook (p. 385), 'Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself.' I am happy to say that the symptoms of the cold quickly disappeared. The next day, although I was completely soaked again while boarding ships in the harbor, no erroneous condition developed as a result of this exposure. I am thankful for this proof that Christian Science meets the needs of military personnel."
