RADIO PROGRAM No. 90 - Meeting the Challenge of Retirement

On this program Henry W. Martin of Albany, New York, told of his own experience, as follows:

I'd worked for a large corporation for over thirty years, and I was looking to the time when I would take my pension and retire, or take up some other activity in a small way. But policies of the company had changed drastically in the last year or two, and I was unable to execute orders which I felt were unfair to customers and employees. This brought strained relations with my superiors. I was a student of Christian Science, and so I turned to God for the solution to the problem. I considered prayerfully one of Mary Baker Eddy's statements in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." She writes (p. 74), "In Christian Science there is never a retrograde step, never a return to positions outgrown."

After several months of such study, I was informed that I was to be transferred to a Middle Western city and demoted to a lower position. Fortified as I was by the help of Christian Science, I recognized that despite appearances, only progress and release from a discordant situation could result. I no longer felt bound to stay with the firm, and I resigned.
