"HIGHLY IMPORTANT"
In the Manual of The Mother Church Mary Baker Eddy states (Art. VIII, Sect. 24), "Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important." These two words "highly important" give us the key to Mrs. Eddy's attitude when she established the Wednesday testimony meetings and arranged for the publication of testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals.
We all know that information regarding any subject is of far greater value when it is given firsthand than when it is repeated secondhand. Therefore, how vital and "highly important" it is that firsthand accounts of healings which have been brought about by the study and application of Christian Science should be available to those who have turned away from material means to Christian Science for help.
In spite of the fact that our Leader has pointed out the importance of this, one hears not infrequently such statements as, "I am too frightened," "I cannot express myself well," "Others do it much better than I can." To get up before a large body of people and speak of personal experiences when one has never before done such a thing may not seem easy. However, if the desire to help one's neighbor is uppermost, one is guided and supported in full by divine Mind, God.
