FRIENDSHIP, A SPIRITUAL IDEA

Christ Jesus , that great friend of mankind, constantly expressed friendship in his every thought and act. His friendship overcame barriers of time and place. True friendship has healed, fed, and aided mankind as written records show. Jesus expressed friendship when he fed the multitude, gave wholeness to the leper, sight to the blind, life to the widow's son. He wisely gave to the receptive thought which did not trample the pearl under foot.

Jesus' friendship was a wide road where expressions of abundant good traveled. With gracious understanding he received hospitality from the publican and repentance from the woman at the feast who came behind him to anoint his feet with costly oil.

Throughout her life Mary Baker Eddy, a devout follower of the Master, was constantly expressing warm friendship to all. There was no service for which she did not quickly show appreciation, no gift for which she did not express joy for the spirit that prompted the giving.
