I am so grateful to God for the understanding that comes to us through the study and application of Christian Science. I am especially grateful for protection while traveling and working as an entertainer. Although I was the only one with an understanding of Christian Science in a group of girls with whom I worked and traveled extensively for several years, we had many proofs of God's protecting power and love. We did all our traveling by car, and we did not have a single accident, although we drove through every kind of weather and did a great deal of night driving. We were always able to make our engagements on time and suffered no ill effects from our arduous experiences.

Some time ago my roommate and I were about to go on quite a long trip to fill a singing engagement. The day before we were to leave, a coin purse containing our money for the trip disappeared from the top of a chest of drawers in the dressing room of our house. This house had been up for sale for some weeks, and that afternoon the owner had shown a man through the place. When I discovered that the purse was gone, my first thought was of this man. We tried to reach a practitioner, but were unable to do so, and I had to leave for church, where I was substituting as soloist at the Sunday evening service.

After I left, my roommate was able to reach the practitioner, who only said, "Call me when you find the purse."' While I was at church a complete sense of peace came to me, and I actually forgot all about the loss. During this time, we later learned, the man who had looked at the house earlier in the day returned and requested the landlord to show him another apartment. This was the last time he was seen in that vicinity.
