It is with heartfelt gratitude that I thank God for the many blessings that have come into my life through an increasing understanding of Christian Science. My father first became interested in this Science when my grandmother, suffering from the last stages of cancer, was permanently healed in two weeks by Christian Science treatment, after she had been given up by the doctors as a hopeless case. After her healing my grandmother lived for over twenty years, leading a full and active life.

I was brought up in Christian Science, and it has met my every need. It gave me complete protection from all so-called childhood diseases. I have been healed of colds, sore throats, an infected thumb, and other minor ailments. A case of overwhelming grief at the passing on of two very dear ones within a short space of time was quickly replaced with comfort and joy.

On one occasion while I was trying to separate two dogs that were fighting, one of them bit my hand. I was due to leave home to usher at a Christian Science lecture. After washing and covering the wound I traveled up to town, where the lecture was to be held. On the train I earnestly declared the truth that the dog was in reality an idea of God, and that one idea could not harm another. I knew that my right place was at the lecture and that nothing could prevent me from carrying out my duty because divine Love was supporting me every step of the way. The hand became stiff and numb, but I was able to perform my duties satisfactorily. When I arrived at home the hand was sufficiently recovered for me to remove the bandage, and in two days' time I assisted a friend in cutting down a tree in the garden without any discomfort.
