Some months ago I found myself...
Some months ago I found myself in a city about three thousand miles from my home, family, and friends. I needed a home and employment. All during my glorious trip across the country I had been rejoicing, for I knew that divine Love was preparing the way for me. My first step was to establish in my own thought a clear sense of home. I thought of Christ Jesus going from place to place healing and teaching. He did not return to a material structure called home at the end of each day. Jesus took his true sense of home with him, and I knew that I too would take mine with me. I studied the statement (Acts 17: 28), "In him we live, and move, and have our being." In addition, I worked prayerfully with each of the seven synonyms for God and thought of what it meant to live in Mind, in Soul, in Spirit, in Principle, in Life, in Truth, and in Love.
The morning of my second day in this city I went to a Christian Science Reading Room, where I did further specific work regarding home. I rejected doubt, impatience, and the desire to plan humanly. Then I figuratively placed my hand in the Father's and said, "Father, I am willing to follow.'" Immediately I was led to go to The Christian Science Monitor office in this city. There I met a young woman who was looking for someone to live in an apartment in her home. This was the way God led me to my home, a home far exceeding my highest human expectation and completely meeting my every need. The blessings that have followed this demonstration of God's love have been many. They include employment, friends, and membership in a branch church. I am most grateful for this proof that as we turn sincerely and unreservedly to the Father, He immediately answers our prayer.
For the blessings of being brought up in a Christian Science home and of being a regular attendant at Sunday School, I am most thankful. I continually thank God for the precious experience of class instruction. I am grateful to Christ Jesus, who said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32), and to Mrs. Eddy, who has given us her revelation of the truth that frees mankind from all discordant conditions.—(Miss) Nancy Ruth Chisholm, San Francisco, California.
