INFINITE SUPPORT

The Psalmist sang (Ps. 63:1), "My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is." This cry typifies mankind's desire to he encouraged, nurtured, and shielded by the infinite, all-loving Father-Mother God.

The frightening pictures and challenging arguments of the fleshly senses caused David to turn with greater resolve to know God more fully. He glimpsed Him as eternal Life, as all-sustaining Truth, and as ever-present, ministering Love, which supplies and protects man. David knew God as his Shepherd. He turned with innocence and confidence to trust the care, guidance, and watchful eye of this Shepherd. David's consciousness of divine Love brought him true support in time of trouble. There is no substitute for the simple, childlike acceptance of the truth that God's power and love are inexhaustible, invincible, and ever available to maintain His perfect creation. Man's expression of ever-unfolding and constantly revealed intelligence is God-inspired. Christian Science teaches that man is supported and blessed by his heavenly Father. Such is the law of divine Love.

The individual who, through daily study of the Bible Lessons as found in the Christian Science Quarterly, learns to accept God as all-powerful, all-intelligent, and ever present knows that he can never actually replace true existence with a sense of limited mortality. This individual sees his true self as safe in the circle of Love's atmosphere. Since man lives to love, it follows that Love is his life. The consciousness filled with true love beholds divine Love's support manifested. Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, by his utilization of the power of Love to raise men above the belief of limitation and death, left as a heritage for all the true example of eternal life in Spirit.
