"I BELIEVE IN NO ISM"

A Correct concept of Christianity must pass successfully through the gateway of a correct concept of its Founder, Christ Jesus. This premise is subject to proof, for no one can live the life of a Christian and perform healing works in the name and the spirit of the Christ without being animated by a proper regard for the greatest of all metaphysicians.

We may say similarly today that it is possible to gain a sound comprehension of Christian Science only if an evaluation of its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, is true. Everything in her published writings points against deification of her personality. On the other hand, the substance of these same works declares beyond question that she was chosen of God to make plain to this age the Science of God, or Christian Science.

Many are familiar with Mrs. Eddy's definition of God, in line with that of the Scriptures, as Life, Truth, and Love. More are coming to respect her choice of the word Principle as a synonym for God, meaning thereby that infinite source from which all government, law, order, and perfection emanates. She writes, for example, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 272), "God is the divine Principle of all that represents Him and of all that really exists."
