DESTROY ALL THE PICTURES OF ERROR

We learn in Christian Science that mortal existence is a dream experience. This dream is made up of mental pictures or images formed by mortal mind, the suppositional opposite of the real Mind, God.

The acceptance of these false mental pictures produces suffering and woe. This being the case, it is plain that if we would be rid of the ills of the flesh, we must see the unreality of the mind which claims to produce such pictures. Every sufferer may be assured that there is no picture of sin or disease so terrifying that the realization of the truth regarding God and His creation cannot destroy it.

Mary Baker Eddy, using a fever case as an illustration, explains the origin of disease in the following words (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 379): "The quickened pulse, coated tongue, febrile heat, dry skin, pain in the head and limbs, are pictures drawn on the body by a mortal mind. The images, held in this disturbed mind, frighten conscious thought."
