GREENER PASTURES

To look far afield for the good which is really at hand is a prominent human trait. Probably we have all heard the old saying, "Other pastures are greener." The acceptance of this belief leads either to restlessness and false ambition or to a frustrated might-have-been state of thought.

Many people have learned through Christian Science that green pastures can be found any time, anywhere. The joy, peace, and spiritual abundance which humanity desires are actually the present reality of life, obscured only by an illusive mortal sense. The perfect creation described in the first chapter of Genesis was not changed by the mist which went up from the earth (see Gen. 2:6). Those who reject this state of mystification and align their thought with spiritual reality are experiencing a progressive sense of well being.

Christian Science reiterates Christ Jesus' teachings and provides definite rules for proving the present fulfillment of his promise (Matt. 11:28), "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." This "me" is not a transient human personality, but the eternal Christ, Truth. As we acknowledge and obey the truth in every phase of daily living, we can step by step demonstrate the nothingness of the illusive mortal senses.
