The Meeting "Our Duty to Mankind" Presented by Tape Recording

"Breaking the bread at the heart of our movement" is the way in which a branch of The Mother Church in Continental Europe has described the world-wide distribution by means of tape recordings of the Tuesday evening meeting held in The Mother Church following the Annual Meeting in June, and the church added, "In return we are promising our best in reflection and fruitfulness."

A London church after its presentation of the tape recording cabled thanks for "a magnificent meeting," while from a small town in Kansas, U.S.A., came word: "We feel this meeting is especially helpful to those of us who are residents of smaller communities, working to extend our boundaries of service to the Cause of Christian Science. We find The Mother Church nearer and dearer because of this privilege." From England a church declared: "It was evident on all sides that the inspiring messages had made a deep appeal and would bring nearer the dedication day of this branch church." And from Canada: "We have in this society indeed received encouragement from the speakers' fearlessness and clear vision, and we look forward to more rapid progress than in the past."

In Missouri a small church held its meeting in midsummer: "To sense, it was the hottest day one could imagine," wrote the clerk, "but none of us was conscious of the heat or of being uncomfortable. The talks were something that will stay with us for a long time and give us much food for thought. One can hardly estimate the good that recorded meeting is doing for our Cause, especially in the little churches like ours." A downtown church in Washington, D.C., reported that a member was healed church during its presentation of the meeting of a physical condition for which she had long sought relief; while from South America came the comment: "We had our meeting with grand results, a wonderful atmosphere and all rejoicing. ... Two of the members received healings, and we all felt we would love more and never criticize." After a similar meeting in New York State, the church clerk declared: "We think it [the recording] is so very much what we need here that our board of trustees instructed me to ask for the recording again after others have had it." And from the Netherlands: "The ideas expressed remain to do their healing and regenerating work. They speak to us here as full-fledged members in a world organization, and I know we all listened and heard the message."
