A healing of an ugly growth on...
A healing of an ugly growth on my face has given me such encouragement and confidence in Christian Science healing that I am prompted to share this blessing with others. The experience proved that the Christ-healing as practiced by Jesus is again made available through the revelation of Christian Science to Mary Baker Eddy.
Some years ago a small eruption appeared on my face; although I was conscious of the condition, little thought was given to it. Later, however, I began to fear that the condition was malignant, and I was at last aroused to do earnest work, as our religion teaches us to do. Great inspiration was gained from the study of the word "reflection." The healing was the result of the utilization of the statement found on page 94 of "Retrospection and Introspection" by Mrs. Eddy, "When all fleshly belief is annihilated, and every spot and blemish on the disk of consciousness is removed, then, and not till then, will immortal Truth be found true, and scientific teaching, preaching, and practice be essentially one." That part of the sentence which reads, "every spot and blemish on the disk of consciousness is removed," was the basis of the prayerful work.
After deep thinking and prayer I realized that I was evidencing much impatience and irritation. These errors of thought, which had become pronounced, I had laid to nervousness caused by the discordant condition. But upon prayerful examination it was seen that the reverse was the case. The nervousness was the effect of the impatience and irritation. When these errors were clearly seen, the work to overcome them became most important, and the physical healing was secondary. The effort to spiritualize thought was invigorating and rewarding.
