It has been about twenty years...

It has been about twenty years since my first testimony appeared in the Sentinel. It told of the healing of my eldest daughter after a physician had declared her case to be hopeless. He later said, "Whatever brought this girl back from the grave is beyond and above me." This healing has been permanent, and my daughter now has three lovely children. The intervening years have brought much growth, and we have experienced many healings. I have learned that problems afford opportunities for advancement in the understanding of God's presence and loving care.

During World War II our children were actively involved in the war effort, and my husband was left short of help in his store; so I went to work in the store to assist him. We were beautifully guided in all our business activities at a time when business was far from normal. The war ended, and my children returned with no injuries.

However, the strain of the years had been hard for me, and I had a severe nervous breakdown. At times I was unable to perform the simplest duties around the house. I went from one practitioner to another in a fearful effort to find help, and I kept studying and praying as we are taught to do in Christian Science. My family was very considerate of me, and I can see now that this period was one of much growth. Finally it was pointed out to me that I was very ungrateful, and that I was failing to rejoice. I can truthfully say I was not resentful, but was glad to have the lurking error exposed.
