My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came when I was in need of physical healing, and I thank God for the wonderful help I received. At various times for several years a dear friend had offered me Christian Science, but I was undermedical treatment and had confidence in the ability of the doctor. I grew worse, however, and one day the doctor said to me, "I am sorry to tell you this, but you will have to be operated on not later than tomorrow morning."

After he left, my friend came to see me, and I told her of the doctor's verdict. She offered to call a Christian Science practitioner for me, and I was willing. The practitioner said that she would be happy to help me. Her message to me was, "Be not afraid; God is ever present and will help you." That was so comforting. I thought of it for some time. Then I said the Lord's Prayer and soon fell asleep. I did not awaken all night, and the next day I felt quite strong. The practitioner continued treatment, and the heart, stomach, and bowel troubles were reduced to nothingness.

I then began to study the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Also I became a member of The Mother Church and a branch church. Later I had class instruction. What a glorious feast of Love those two weeks were! I was supremely happy, and upon my return home I was given a class in Sunday School. A year after my first healing I met a man who was also interested in Christian Science and who afterward became my husband. He had been healed of the smoking habit and of a stomach ailment. He too joined a branch church and found joy in teaching in the Sunday School.
