Each day I am increasingly...
Each day I am increasingly grateful that I was brought up in a home where Christian Science was lived and demonstrated. The instruction I received in the Sunday School proved practical when applied to schoolwork or physical problems, and it instilled in me a high sense of right, based on an understanding of God as Principle.
A few years ago I experienced an outstanding healing while on vacation with my family in Colorado. I was thrown from a horse and landed flat on my back on a large slab of rock. When I was taken to the lodge, I was unable to move from the waist down. In spite of this condition, the family was very calm, and we immediately rejoiced in the fact that we had an unfailing method of healing. As soon as possible a telegram was sent to a practitioner in another state requesting help. My freedom increased steadily, and after a few days I was able to get about with a little assistance. Shortly thereafter I made the long trip home by car in comparative comfort. I thought constantly of the Bible passage (Acts 17:28), "In him we live, and move, and have our being," and an illumined sense of the perpetual activity of God unfolded.
After a week at home I was due to report at a summer camp as a counselor and sailing instructor. In spite of an apparent lack of coordination and comfort, I went through with my plans. I found that during the summer I had the strength to do everything that was required of me, and at the end of the season I was walking normally, running, swimming, and horseback riding. Aftereffects of the accident have been eliminated, and the healing is complete.
