THERE IS NO MATTER

The "color is in us," not "in the rose,"
The physicist declares. How gladly true
It is that, whatsoever be its pose,
There is no matter: only God shines through.
All color, beauty, joy, and song are His,
Eternal witnesses of Love and Soul,
Still manifesting Life's realities
From summer regions to the southern pole.
For matter has no properties, no sight,
No color, form, or sound to call its name;
In Spirit are all substance, being, light,
Abundance, each forevermore the same.
I thank Thee, God: Thou makest me to see,
Not through the eyes, but by reflecting Thee.
