After more than twenty years as a member of The Mother Church and a branch church I should like to express in the periodicals my gratitude for Christian Science. Through our study and application of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy my family and I have had many healings. I was healed of smoking, and for more than twenty-five years I have had no desire for tobacco.

Other healings I have had include those of a nervous breakdown, from which I prayed I might escape by passing on, an infected finger, and an injured vertebra. This last condition pained so continuously that I could not sleep at night. At the time I was the only one in my family who was a student of Christian Science. In reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I found this passage (p. 254): "If you launch your bark upon the ever-agitated but healthful waters of truth, you will encounter storms. Your good will be evil spoken of. This is the cross. Take it up and bear it, for through it you win and wear the crown." This encouraged me to persevere in the truth until the healing came.

Jesus said (John 8:31, 32), "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It is my desire always to continue in the truth. I am grateful to God for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, as well as to the practitioners who have helped me to know the truth that makes free. —Orville H.
