The love and truth that were expressed to me by a student of Christian Science were instrumental in my giving up the saloon business and going into a grocery business. Soon after this change was made I attended a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Church of Christ, Scientist, and it removed from my thinking all the antagonism I had previously held toward what I mistakenly thought Christian Science to be.

I discovered that my concept of this religion was entirely wrong and realized that Science was just what I needed. Afterward I met a practitioner, to whom I had delivered newspapers when a boy. On hearing of my desire to know something of Christian Science she invited me to her office. There she told me more about God in my short visit than I had ever known, and when I left I felt as though I had found what I had longed for all my life. In addition, to my great astonishment, I was freed from the longstanding habit of smoking and also from the desire for liquor.

Business problems were solved when I learned to seek first the kingdom of God and to know that the only real business is God's business. I was encouraged by the enlightening article entitled "Angels" in "Miscellaneous Writings," where Mary Baker Eddy states (p. 307): "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for tomorrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment."
