Activities for the Armed Services

[The following accounts of service personnel have been received by the Armed Services Department and are now shared with the Field.]

Florida—Naval Base

A seaman in a naval hospital was suffering from what the doctors diagnosed as poliomyelitis. In his extremity he called on a Christian Science Minister provided by Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services for help. After receiving two Christian Science treatments, he was able to swallow. Later he regained the use of his hands and legs. Within three days he was removed from the isolation ward and given liberty in the hospital area.

The seaman expressed a desire to know more of Christian Science and accepted some pamphlets, a copy of the Christian Science Quarterly, and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After he began reading this literature, his recovery was steady. In a shorter time than predicted by the doctors he was discharged from the hospital to active duty, grateful for the blessings of Christian Science.
