"We have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him" (I John 4:16). In realizing "the love that God hath to us" I received an instantaneous healing in Christian Science more than ten years ago.

I was physically ill with a form of rheumatism which took away the normal use of my limbs. A doctor to whom I had gone for several weeks informed me that I would never completely recover. When I was in great despair, a dear friend offered me some Christian Science literature, including the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, saying she was sure it would help me. Having no previous knowledge whatsoever of Christian Science, I was at once interested to learn that it is a religion.

As I studied the literature the great revelation that man is and always has been the perfect, spiritual child of God, Love, filled me with gratitude. A little later, on going upstairs, I realized that I had walked up the stairs normally instead of dragging up them. I immediately ran down and up again to make quite sure that I was free. I have never ceased to be grateful for this healing and for the revelation of God as ever-present Love. In the years since then I have lived a very active life with no recurrence of the illness.
